FDA-approved oral gabapentin is labeled for postherpetic neuralgia in adults.1
FDA-approved oral amitriptyline hydrochloride is labeled for the relief of symptoms of depression.2
FDA-approved oral baclofen is labeled for alleviation of signs and symptoms of spasticity resulting from multiple sclerosis and may be of value in certain spinal cord diseases.3
Topical amitriptyline cream has been studied in a randomized trial for painful diabetic neuropathy.4 Those labeled uses and that topical study apply to the individual agents. Published evidence does not establish that this three-ingredient compounded cream has been studied as a blend.
